| Fire Safety House |
1986 Fire Safety House
The Fire Safety House is a scaled down version of a two story frame house. It was built in 1986 for the Decatur Fire Department after generous monetary and labor donations from both Archer Daniels Midland Corporation and the Decatur Housing and Construction Trades Council. Decatur used the safety house until 2000 when they upgraded to a bigger model and graciously donated their old Safety House to the Mt. Zion Fire Protection District. Today it is used throughout the year to teach children the importance of fire safety and what to do in the event of a fire. We also allow any of the area fire departments use of the house to assist in their fire prevention programs.
