Mt. Zion assists in bringing Sgt Jesse Tilton home
Tue. Jul 27th 2010

Mt. Zion Fire personnel were honored to take part in the procession that brought Sgt Jesse Tilton home Tuesday. Tilton, an Army medic from Mount Zion, died July 16 of wounds he suffered while tending to another soldier under enemy fire in Afghanistan. The 23-year-old was posthumously promoted to sergeant and awarded a host of honors, including a Purple Heart, Bronze Star, Army Commendation Medal and Army Achievement Medal. Mt. Zion’s engine one was in the procession and a flag donated by Larry Eckhardt was hung from Tower 1 and hung so that it covered Main St. Our thoughts are with the Tilton family.

Fire Safety Tips

If an appliance smokes or has an unusual smell, unplug it immediately and have it repaired. Replace frayed or cracked electrical cords and don't overload extension cords. They should not be run under rugs. Never tamper with the fuse box or use the improper size fuse.
